What is the difference between a Wedding Planner & A Wedding Coordinator?

The wedding industry has gotten kind of wild lately if i’m being honest. So much lingo that the everyday bride + groom aren’t privy too and I bet it gets overwhelming and confusing pretty quickly.

So. hopefully here and now, with this blog post I can make at least one thing super clear and be a help to you in your engagement season!

The difference between a Wedding Planner and a Wedding Coordinator?

A Coordinator is someone who you can hire at any time. I do recommend that you hire them very quickly into your planning process as lots can offer some good tips and advice for you while you are planning. Lots of coordinators have been professionally working and even planning weddings for years and have lots of amazing insight they can offer you. They really step in big time the month before your wedding. They create the wedding timelines, help communicate final details with vendors and they really go through your wedding day plans with a fine tooth comb to find any missteps or solve any problems and make sure its all designed and planned to run smoothly! Then on your wedding day they are there to support their couple and the vendor staff making sure they all work copacetically. They keep the couple flowing from one thing to the next, making sure your needs or wants are met, checking in on parents, making sure set up is done properly, helping load your getaway car and honestly so so so much more!

A planner is someone who you hire right away. They are along with you helping you set your budget, hire your vendors, create your wedding design and taking the brunt of the work on their shoulders. Planners charge a lot more as they are taking on 60-100 hours of work per wedding. It takes a massive weight off your plate so you can spend your time on other things. After all you still have a career to maintain and maybe a family to care for. Planning a wedding is a ton of work! Planners are not only taking on a ton of work leading up to the wedding day but they’re also doing everything on the day-of that a coordinator is doing as well. So that’s where they overlap for sure!

Both Coordinator and Planners are a HUGE help and I truly believe a necessity. Their experience and knowledge are extensive and having them around for your wedding will make it a day that you can actually be present for and enjoy instead of being bogged down with questions and problems and last minute, game-time decisions, etc.

Protect the day that you’ve invested SO much heart and soul and money and love into and hire yourself either a Wedding Planner or a Wedding Coordinator!

xoxo,
